I’ve had the opportunity to try a wide range of haircare and want to share with you my top picks for 2020. From conditioning treatments to the perfect waves, I’ve tried methods that work and methods that flop. To save you the trouble of the flops, I’m sharing the methods that worked!
Best Volume boosting shampoo and conditioner. The Full Blown Volume Weightless Amplifier by Fekkai available at Target is a duo I’ve been using for a while and can speak to everything it claims. When using a volume shampoo my goal is to get bigger than normal hair without drying. Fekkai accomplished this while also providing a healthy formula that checks off the boxes for those looking for quality ingredients and ethical production. The scent reminds me of my favorite spa at the Montelucia Resort which is an added plus.
Best Budget Friendly Shampoo and Conditioner. I purchased this duo last September and used the entire shampoo. Every last bit. It’s moisture that does not weigh down so it’s great for every day. I don’t use the conditioner as much because I feel it does get a little heavy for my fine straight hair. At a $6.99 price point I’m impressed and a big fan.
Best leave in repair and heat protection. I love the soft lux feel of my hair after using and leaving in the Alterna Caviar Bond Repair Protection Spray. I recommend it once a week before some serious heat damage, ie: blow drying and curling. Stopping breakage is so important, especially for girls like me trying to maintain and grow my natural hair.
Best Dry Shampoo. Ok, I know there’s a dime a dozen dry shampoos out there, but only a couple have really worked for me. This one is my favorite, it doesn’t leave a yucky residue, the scent is beautiful (Mr. K told me my head smelled like a swanky hotel the other day haha) and as if dry shampoo wasn’t miraculous enough, this one detoxes with charcoal while helping me save face in public.
Best Texturizing Spray. What does texturizing spray really do? It’s the difference between those princess curls your mom gave you in the 4th grade and the sexy beachy babelicious waves you deserve. Sephora Collection is one of my favorite lines for beauty, hair, and makeup because of the high quality and low price points. I love the minimal ingredient formulas and the actual ability to achieve ultra sexy waves with this stuff. Mermaid life here I come.
Best Root Lifter. I’m obsessed with the Drybar scent. I even have it in a candle and body lotion. This root lifter is amazing and so easy to use. I spray a little around my part and under my towel dried hair and brush it in, then dry as usual. It smells beautiful, another scent Mr. K has noticed as my hair swings past him with volume and bounce. 😉
Best Purple Shampoo. Every now and then my blonde highlights start looking a little yellow for my liking, especially in the summer when we swim a lot in the backyard. A good wash through with Kevin Murphy’s Blonde Angel refreshes my highlights and keeps them moisturized. Most purple shampoos have dried my hair out, but not this sweet Angel.
Best Hair Tools for Waves and Curls. I could not understand all the hype about the T3 Whirl Wand…. until I tried it. Not joking the day after I tried it I got rid of all the other wands and curling irons cluttering up my sink area. Call it true love, call it instant brand loyalty, I don’t know, but I do know I’ve been creating great hair in 1/2 the time and getting compliments every single day. This wand set is expensive, explore buying just the handle and one attachment for a less pricey avenue. I use the smaller barrel almost daily for my medium length hair.
