Motherhood is one of those things that you cannot prepare for. It’s hard beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, messy, and sometimes very thankless. As a mom I deal with an ongoing amount of guilt that I’m not doing things right, or not doing enough. I worry, every second of my day.. are they hungry, are they cold, did they watch too much tv, did I give them enough vegetables, was I too hard on them, was I too easy on them, are they safe, are their hearts full?
Recently Shane Co. invited me to be apart of their Mother’s Day campaign along side of two other AMAZING Mamas: @Avestyles, and @cardiganempire . I was over joyed to be a part of such a fun and sparkly project. What I didn’t realize is how this campaign would invite me to reflect on my experience with motherhood.
In trying to figure out what I was going to write, I thought what better way than to share letters from journals I keep for each child. Some day I will give Zara and Blake their journal so they can read about how they’ve grown, and who they are to me. So here is a little glimpse into my heart as a mom, and a few pictures showing a little slice of my life along with my FAVORITE sparkles from Shane Co.

Today I had a bad day, everything went wrong, I hurt myself and it seemed I couldn’t do anything right, but you proved me wrong. You complete my life and just when I think everything is falling apart you smile like a bright star. Your eyes glow with compassion and some how you talk to my heart in a way no one else could.
I thank god every day for you. Reading you books and snuggling you close are the best parts of my day. Thank you for giving me purpose, and for giving me love beyond anything I ever thought possible. Your intuition is beyond your years and you are a beautiful person.

I love you,

You are a free spirit. Last night we went to get ice cream, a song came on that you liked, and without thinking twice you stood up on the booth and started dancing.
You always touch my back or grab my hand and say very sweetly, “this is my little mommy.” And one morning you were coming down the stairs, froze in your tracks and said, “Mommy, you beautiful.”
You are always finding new ways to melt my heart and I’m beyond in love with you. You giggle freely and give out so much love. In the mornings you wake up super early, 5am! When everyone else is normally grumpy you are all smiles and sunshine.
Thank you for being such a ray of light and making me smile so much it hurts.
I LOVE YOU!!
